![]() Download the free Libby app on your phone or non-Kindle tablet, login with your library card, and continue reading on your device! Once your book is downloaded to your device you do not need an internet connection to read or listen to it.There are a two ways to check out ebooks on your device without the OverDrive app: This change will mostly effect people who use a Kindle Fire, but anyone who is still using the blue OverDrive app on their device will need to switch to a different ebook app. The Libby app is newer, more user friendly, quicker to log into than OverDrive, and is the overall preferred reading app among customers! The Libby app will let you continue to check out library ebooks and eaudiobooks to your computer, phone, tablet, and Kindle devices in a more streamlined way. This change will provide the best ereading experience for users! One of the ebook apps, OverDrive, will be phased out and replaced with the Libby app. Remember, readers who believe they are borrowing your book for free and end up paying for it have a reason to be upset, it's not enough to just blame the mistake on Amazon. In February 2022, there will be a change to ebook reading apps that many library customers use. I strongly urge authors to read through the first part of the eBook in order to see how readers will go about borrowing their books, and the problems that may arise in customer service. The second part explains how authors can add their titles to the Kindle Owners' Lending Library and what benefits and drawbacks they can expect. The first part of this eBook is an illustrated guide to browsing, borrowing and returning Kindle eBooks for Prime Members. And authors become confused as well since Amazon offers publishers a separate option to allow Kindle Book Lending, which allows somebody who has purchased a Kindle eBook to lend it, just once, to a friend. For example, the Kindle Owners' Lending Library is accessed through the Store tab on your Kindle, not through the Library tab, which contains the books you have bought! In addition, Amazon allows household members to be added to the Prime account of a family member to enjoy the free 2nd day shipping benefit, but not the free movies or books. One problem has to do with the way Amazon labels their various programs and options. There are a rising number of one-star book reviews on Amazon written by Prime Members who thought they were downloading a free book but somehow ended up paying and are left wondering - "How do I borrow a book with Amazon Prime?" This is a disservice to Prime Members, who either eat the purchase price or have to go through the bother of getting it refunded, and it's also unfair to the author who has agreed to make the eBook a free borrow for Prime Members, and ends up with a bad review because of Amazon lending policies.
